QSL launches new era of Marketing Choice
QSL has finalised its On-Supply Agreement (OSA) with MSF Sugar, ushering in a new era of Marketing Choice for Queensland cane growers.
Announcing the finalisation of the OSA contract today, QSL CEO Greg Beashel said the new agreement enabled growers with a Cane Supply Agreement with MSF Sugar to choose QSL as the marketer of their Grower Economic Interest in sugar (GEI Sugar) and access QSL’s pricing products for the 2017 Season and beyond.
“Growers in the Tablelands, Mulgrave, South Johnstone and Maryborough milling districts can find the necessary information about QSL’s pricing products and how they can choose QSL as their GEI Sugar Marketer by visiting our website,” he said.
“We’ll also be sending growers QSL Marketing Choice Information packs in coming days and will host a series of local information events to explain the new Marketing Choice process and answer any questions growers may have about this or the 2017-Season pricing products they can now access.”
Mr Beashel said he hoped similar arrangements could soon be established with Wilmar and Tully Sugar to enable growers supplying those mills to also access the Marketing Choice provided for under State legislation.
“Our arrangements with MSF Sugar are evidence that the legislation is workable,” he said.
“We appreciate MSF Sugar’s willingness to work with us through this important process, and the ongoing support of our Raw Sugar Supply Agreement signatories Bundaberg Sugar, Isis Central Sugar Mill and Mackay Sugar which facilitates the new Marketing Choice arrangements.
“By working together we have implemented a system that minimises change and the associated costs, retaining important value through pooling sugar in the QSL system while also delivering Marketing Choice to growers in a way that enables them to start pricing into what is a very attractive market.
“We believe the same can also be achieved with Tully Sugar and Wilmar and we continue to work with them towards this outcome”.
