Michael joined the Australian Cane Farmers Board of Directors in March 2014. Michael is a second generation cane farmer who supplies South Johnstone Mill. Initially Michael began as a cane harvester before setting up Maalacan Engineering to help his inventive brother realize his ideas.
Today Michael lives on the same farm where he was born, and together with his wife Mary, they run their farm and engineering businesses. Michael has a keen interest in developing new farming practises and way in which to increase farm profitability. Soil health is also a topic Michael has great interest in, and is currently involved in a program that looks at applying worm juice to cane. Michael is a qualified boilmaker.
